Ingrid Skogsmo from the European Commission's Directorate-General Research & Innovation represented the L3Pilot Coordinator Aria Etemad, Volkswagen Group Research, and the consortium during the 2018 AAAS Meeting. The Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science was held in Austin, Texas from February 15th to 19th.

Ingrid Skogsmo, European Commission, representing Arai Etemad, Volkswagen Group research, represented the L3Pilot project in the Scientific Session: “Future-Generation Cars and Drivers: Research, Moving to Market, and Policymaking” on Friday, February 16th, 2018 on 02:00 PM.

The session addressed science as a critical role in laying the foundation for addressing the wide range of challenges that need to be overcome before highly automated driving and innovative mobility concepts are widely available and adopted. Speakers discussed their international research collaborations, addressing connected and automated driving from three different angles: fundamental research, testing applications closer to market, and policy.

The AAAS is the world's largest general scientific society, with over 120,000 members, and is the publisher of the well-known scientific journal Science. The AAAS Annual Meeting is interdisciplinary and inclusive. Each year, a wide community of leading scientists, educators, policymakers, and journalists gathers to discuss cutting-edge developments in science, technology, and policy.
